Editing examples

These are just some examples that showcase the result of my editing. These all involve breaking down complex health information and collaborating well with a range of health experts or users.

Content spotlight – Heart Matters

A great way to demonstrate my ability is to show the writing and editing I did for Heart Matters magazine.

This is the British Heart Foundation‘s printed and online magazine for people living with a heart condition, with a readership of more than 400,000.

Over my time at Heart Matters we improved online readership by 400% in four years, and drew in more than 12 million users for a content hub we created on the website.

Awards

We’ve won many awards for our content and design at the magazine, which were led by the editor and myself, though a whole multidisciplinary team contributed to the magazine’s success. There are a few of the most recent examples below, I’ve won separate awards for digital products.

2022 Professional Publishers’ Association (PPA) Independent Publisher awards, Membership Publication of the Year.

“Heart Matters is an extremely important resource to the community it serves, giving readers up-to-date information about how Covid-19 related to their condition. This is a fantastic example of how important media can be to someone’s life and the positive impact it can have.”

2022 PPA Independent Publishers Awards, Special mention as team of the Year

This entry demonstrated how the team has delivered for their brand. The judges said the hard work and organisation from the team really shines!”

2022 British Medical Association Patient Information Award, shortlisted for COVID-19 and your heart information hub

“Exceptional, highly responsive resource with outstanding co-production credentials that provides timely, reliable information at a critical time for patients with heart disease.”
